June 24, 2010 - 3:26 pm - We just received a shipment of Biffle Bug's, the winning lure at the Bassmaster Elite Series tournament last weekend. We have all ten colors right now, but it's hard to say how long they will last. They're a hot item.

When it comes to Larew Products, Zeiner's is the place to find what you need. If you need something we don't have, we can get it for you. We've been buying directly from Larew since the mid-80s.

Monday - June 21, 2010 - 6:13 am-Today is the longest day of the year. You will have the most daylight of the year to go fishing. Tomorrow we start the downhill slide to shorter days until we hit late December.

Shorter days coupled with the summer heat will mean more fishing in the dusk and dawn hours. For many bass anglers, that means top water excitement. How are you fixed for buzz baits, Hula Poppers, frogs, Spooks and other top water baits? We've got them.

Catfish anglers will be doing more night fishing now too. We have what you need for that also. We've just received the new smaller container of Team Catfish's new Sudden Impact. At $3.99, it makes it an inexpensive way to give the new bait a try if you haven't already.

Stop by this week and say hi to Alex, Tom, James, Zach or me. We are all here to serve you.

Monday - June 14, 2010 - 3:02 am- I'm up early today working in our Cottonwood Falls store before heading to the Wichita store. Not sure yet what the situation will be for heading to Wichita. The Cottonwood River was really flowing last night and we were having flood warnings. I may have to go down 177 instead of taking 50 if we are flooded by Elmdale.

My grandson James came up with me to help at Cottonwood Mercantile over the weekend. He will be helping at the Bass Shop this summer. He is the fifth generation of Zeiner's to serve anglers. I'm really proud of him and invite you to stop by and say hi to him sometime this summer.

In my previous post on June 5 I talked about Mark Kirkpatrick making the cut for the final day of fishing in the Bassmaster Open. What I didn't know at the time was that his non-boater that day caught a bass going over 11 pounds which was the largest one caught in any tournaments ever held there. He went on to win the non-boater side. I understand there will be an article in Bassmaster Magazine about it and Mark was interviewed for it.

Friday - June 5, 2010 - 8:40 am- Congratulations to Mark Kirkpatrick for making the cut on day two of the Bassmaster Open being held this weekend. He will be fishing today in the final day of fishing. You can read the coverage of day two by going to http://www.kansasangler.com/4fishingnews/010/100604bassmaster.html

Friday - June 4, 2010 - 3:44 pm - Thanks for a great May to all of our customers. We really appreciate your business. I've been so busy I've been neglecting to keep you posted on what's going on at Zeiner's.

Our latest thing to share is that we are now a G. Loomis dealer and have our first order of rods in the store. We don't have a ton of them, but we can order you any you want and have them in less than a week.

The Loomis line joins our other fine rods from St. Croix, Powell, Falcon and of course, Bass Pro Shop's rods.

We've seen a hugh increase in our catfish business as we've added the complete line of Team Catfish products to go with our Sonny's and Cat Tracker.

We also continue to see a large interest in people wanting to make their own sinkers and lures. We we stock over 300 different Do-It molds and will special order you a mold if we don't have it. We usually order two to three times a week during this time.

Regardless of the type of fishing you do, we should have or be able to get whatever you need. Come see us and say hi to our Zach, our newest staff member.

Sunday - May 2, 2010 - 2:02 pm - Kansan Brent Chapman pocketed $10,000 with a 14th place finish in the Bassmaster Elite Series event this weekend on Pickwick Lake. He missed making the top 12 and fishing the last day for the big bucks by a little over a pound. You can read the full story and see the results by going to http://www.kansasangler.com/4fishingnews/010/100501elite.html.

Friday - April 9, 2010 - 12:26 pm - Several Kansas are fishing the Bassmaster Open at Amistad this weekend. You can read daily coverage of it by going to kansasangler.com/4fishingnews/index.html

Monday - April 5, 2010 - 4:56 am - In case you missed it, there was a nice article in yesterday's Eagle about Brent Chapman, Kansas' Bassmaster Elite Series angler and fifth place finisher in the recent Bassmaster Classic.

There's been a lot going on at the store lately as we move into the spring mode. If you haven't been in recently, put it on your list of things to do. We've added several new lines of merchandise you might be interested in regardless of the type of fishing you do.

Bass anglers will find the Hag's Tornado and Undertaker along with spring orders of Gene Larew and Lake Fork baits. Crappie anglers will find Slab Busters along with a spring order of Bobby Garland baits while catfish anglers will find the complete line of Team Catfish dip bait and tackle accessories.

We also have a great new product for limb line anglers. It's a system for watching your lines by attaching a high powered light to your line. Eight of the Limb Line Lights come packed in a plastic carrying case. They're easy to use and will double as flares if you have car trouble. Stop by and check them out.

We've also received many other orders as we get stocked up for this year. If we don't have what you need, we will make every effort to get it for you.

Stop by and see us.

Saturday - March 20, 2010 - 11:52 am - I haven't been doing a very good joy of posting to my blog since we added Facebook to our website. Sorry about that. Walleye season seems to be in full swing based on the number of reports we are getting in the store and through Kansas Angler Online reports from Kansas Anglers. This weather may cause a little hickup if it holds.

Crappie anglers have also been doing well in these early days of the season.

We've added quite a few new crappie and walleye items to our selection this year and still continue to receive more.

Thanks to all of you, both in-store and online customers for getting 2010 off to a really strong start for us. We're doing out best to have the things you need. If we don't have it, we'll try to get it for you.

Come by and see us.

Wednesday - February 24, 2010 - 10:39 am - I could tell spring was getting close yesterday. We spent the day receiving mercandise and trying to figure out where to put it.

The day started with the delivery of our Team Catfish and Team Spoonbill products. We've really expanded our selection of Team Catifish. It will take a while for us to get it all received and on display, but you're welcome to come in and take a sneak peek at it. Team Catfish has an extensive line of specialty catfish products as well as their Secret 7 bait.

New this year is Team Spoonbill featuring specialty tackle for spoonbill. Probably one of the most exciting products is the large barbless hooks. Oklahom requires snagging hooks to be barbless and simply pinching down the barbs sometimes doesn't work. As I understand it, the game wardens are really particular when they check the squeezed down barbs.

Friday - February 12, 2010 - 12:16 pm - How would you fish if you were one of the Classic anglers this year fishing for the glory on Lay Lake in Alabama? They are facing cold weather, not much unlike what we have here. Practice for the Classic starts today. Among other things, there was a chance of snow in the forecast.

It will be interesting to watch what unfolds as the actual tournament draws near.

You can read a story about it by clicking here.

Tuesday - January 5, 2010 - 09:25 pm - Well as you may have noticed some new things on the site this past week. We have been working on joining the social networking sites.

Saturday - January 30, 2010 - 2:07 pm - White seemed to be the rule for January as we started and ended the month with snow. Ice fishing fans had a chance to enjoy getting out. Many of them had good results.

As we near February, we're starting to get in new items for the fast approaching season. We just received our first order of Abu-Garcia's new Vendetta rods.

Crappie anglers will be glad to hear we have all the colors of the hard-to-find Slab Busters.

We are working on orders for Gene Larew, Lake Fork Tackle, Yamamoto, Pradco and other manufacturers. If you have any special requests, stop by or give us a call so we can be sure to have what you want.

Thanks to all of our in-store and internet shoppers. We had a great year in 2009 and 2010 promises to be even better if January is any indicator.

Stop by and see us.

Tuesday - January 5, 2010 - 09:25 pm - Well as you may have noticed some new things on the site this past week. We have been working on joining the social networking sites.

We have set up a Fan page on Facebook along with a Twitter page. These will be yet another way for you to stay up with the latest that is going on with Zeiner's Bass Shop. We will also periodically run specials on these social networks so keep your eyes open and you may just catch a great deal. We look forward to seeing you become a Fan on Facebook and following us on Twitter.

Thursday - December 24, 2009 - 12:24 pm - Looks as though we will have a white Christmas. We will close at 3:00 today unless it's looking real bad, then we might bump it up to 2:00. We will reopen Saturday at 9:00. I hope everyone has a nice Christmas and Santa brings you what you want. Thanks to all of you that have made this a good year for us. We appreciate it.

Friday - December 18, 2009 - 12:44 pm - First it was zebra mussels, now it's Crocs. My daughter just emailed me a photo of a Croc taken at El Dorado. What's next? If you are interested in seeing it, click here. I can't verify that it was taken at El Dorado, I assume it was. We all need to work together to be sure the lake doesn't get more of them.

As we draw closer to Christmas, please remember us for those stocking stuffers. Gift certificates are always practical. We can make you one for any amount you like.

Come see us. We will close early Christmas Eve, be closed Christmas day and open Saturday our normal hours.

Monday - November 30, 2009 - 7:59 pm - Thanks to all of you for another great month. We beat November of 2009 by almost 40% and nearly had our best November on record. It's only with great customers and their loyalty that we could be in business.

As people start trying to get hints from you about what you would like for Christmas, how about suggesting a Zeiner's Bass Shop gift certificate? Your out-of-town friends and relatives can order them online by going to http://www.zeiners.com/giftcertificates/index.html. We will mail it free. With a gift certificate from Zeiner's, you will be able to select from our wide selection in the store or you can order from the Bass Pro Shop catalog. We can order almost anything for you from the catalog, but there are a few things we can't get. If you have any questions about what they may be, just give us a call. An example would be Columbia Sportswear. They and a few other manufacturers will not let Bass Pro sell to independent dealers. Also, you don't need to use your complete gift certificate in one visit, you can get what you need and save the rest of the certificate for later.

I've noticed a number of price increases for the 2010 season. If you need some things for next year, it might be a good idea to get them now before they go up. Not everything is going up, but I have noticed that a number of items have.

Come see Alex, Ben, Del, Tom or me and say hi. There's no need to buy anything, just come in and look around if you would like to. While you're in the store check out the new molds from Do-It. We stock over 300 different molds and can order any others you may want.

Sunday - November 15, 2009 - 1:48 pm - I had a big surprise last night. Yesterday was my 65th birthday and Deb (wife) said she was taking me out to eat. She took me by surprise when she said she had to run by the Cottonwood Falls Community Building to check on something for a reception being held there. When we got there and went in, the place was filled with family and friends to surprise me for my birthday. I guess she had been working on it for several weeks. I had no idea. She hit on an idea to suggest that people bring toys that could be donated to our local Christmas tree for kids Santa needs a little help with.

It was a double birthday. We opened Cottonwood Mercantile in Cottonwood Falls on my 60th birthday. It is five years old now.

Sixty-five isn't so bad. I think I'm just getting started on life. The lord has been good to me and kept me healthy and motivated.

Thursday - November 5, 2009 - 5:10 pm - Thanks to all of our customers for making October our best one on record. People are fishing and making lures.

We continue to receive merchandise. If you're one of the avid trout anglers in the Wichita area, stop by and see us for your tackle and other needs.

Those of you that have been needing more of the great new line from Lake Fork tackle will be glad to know we have all the weights in stock again.

As Christmas starts getting on more people's minds, it's not too early to start giving hints about Zeiner's Bass Shop gift certificates. One of our certificates will let you buy anything in the store or anything on a special order from Bass Pro Shop. (There are a few items we are unable to order. Give us a call if you have something in mind that you want to be sure about.)

If you like making your own lures or sinkers, come by and check out our selection of Do-It molds. We stock over 300 different models of Do-It molds. If we don't have the one you want, we can order for you and have it in just a few days. We order at least once a week from them and often twice a week.

Come by and see us.

Thursday - October 15, 2009 - 9:18 am - Trout are being stocked today and before long anglers will be having some fun and some good eating. One important thing to remember if you're not a trout angler with a trout stamp, areas stocked with trout require a trout stamp even if you're not fishing for trout.

Tuesday was an active day helping customers get ready for trout. I enjoyed being able to get out in the store and help people. Usually, I'm stuck in the backroom.

Warmer temps are supposed to creep back in for the weekend I guess. That will make it a great time to get out and do some fishing. I just posted a story from Kansas Wildlife and Parks about fall fishing. You can read it by clicking here.

Saturday - October 10, 2009 - 3:31 pm - Whoa, did it get cool, make that cold, or what? I always have a hard time adjusting to the first few days of temperatures like we're having now. Wait a few months and this will seem like spring.

It keeps getting worse, Zebra Mussels have been confirmed in Wilson reservoir. Wilson is the westernmost reservoir to become infested in Kansas. That spells trouble for Milford which is downstream from Wilson. Because of its location in respect to other infested waters, it's nearly a sure bet that they got there by being transported in by lake users. You can read more about this by clicking here.

Kansas Wildlife and Parks will be having a commission meeting in Sedan on October 15. You can find out more about the meeting by clicking here. There are several items related to fishing on the agenda.

Thanks to all of our customers for a great September. It was our best September on record.

Changing topics a bit, I'm curious about how many of our customers are Facebook or Twitter fans. I attended a conference last Sunday - Tuesday and one of the workshops was on social networking. I didn't attend it, but one of the people with us did and he got me wondering if one or both of them might be a good idea for the bass shop.

If you have any thoughts about Facebook or Twitter and if they would be a good idea for us or if you think they might be a passing fad, I'd like to hear from you about it. You can email me by clicking here.

Thursday - October 1, 2009 - 3:31 pm - We just received a new shipment of tackle and are in good shape with a wide selection of Power Worms in both 7- and 10-inch with a number of hard to find colors. Speaking of hard-to-find colors, we have access to a large number of special run colors from Zoom. If you're looking for something special in Zoom, stop by and check the color chart for available colors. It's updated weekly, so if you don't see what you need one time, it may show up later.

Trout season is drawing near. Are you ready for it? If not, better come in and get what you need. Catfishing continues to be good.

Tuesday - September 8, 2009 - 4:24 am - I hope you had a good weekend as we draw close to closing out summer. While summer is fading fast, fishing isn't. It won't be long until fall fishing patterns set in and anglers that have been busy during the summer start getting out.

This has to be one of the best years for catfishing in some time. We've been going through Sonny's, Cat Tracker and Team Catfish baits like mad. They all are having a hard time keeping up with demand. We still in pretty good shape on all of them except for Wicked Stickey original formula. We hope to have more of it soon.

Thanks to all of our customers, both old and new, for making this a great year for us. Every month has been significantly better than the same month last year. We appreciate your business and will continue to do our best to have the things you need or to get them for you if we don't have them.

Come by and see us.

Wednesday - August 26, 2009 - 5:04 pm - For the 30th year, members of Air Capital Bassmasters will be sponsoring the Sunshine Kids Fishing Derby. This event, held at the Quivira Scout Ranch near Sedan, brings bass anglers and kids together for a day of fishing and fun. The kids in the event have either physical, hearing or vision problems or have cancer or have had cancer.

The club always has more kids than the club members can take out so each year, the club seeks other boaters to act as guides for the kids. Boats must be 17 feet or longer. Boaters must check in before 10:oo am and obtain launching pass at boathouse prior to launching. The fishing time is from 11:30 am to 4:00 pm. Bait is provided for the kids.

Lunch and dinner will be provided for all participants Saturday. Sunday is open fishing until noon for boaters who take children fishing Saturday. This is a great way for boaters to have an opportunity to help someone and at the same time, get to fish the Quivira Scout Ranch. Most people know the ranch for some great fishing, but access to it is limited.

The club will also accept tax deductible contributions to help offset the cost of the event.

If you would like to volunteer as a boater, contact Scott Bong, Air Capital Bassmasters at 316-304-7949 or Gary Wilderson, Air Capital Bassmasters at 316-644-3555.

Saturday - August 12, 2009 - 10:26 pm - My daughter called this afternoon and reminded me it's been a while since I updated my blog. This time of the year should let me update on a regular basis, but it seems that I don't have enough hours in the day to do everything I need to do.

We continue to be busy at the store. I glad to see Tom get back to work. Last Monday was his first day for over a month. Tom suffered a heart attack early one day before coming to work. The trooper he is, he called me from intensive care that morning to let me know he wouldn't be in. He's back to normal now and glad to be back. Come in Monday and tell him hi.

We are still receiving merchandise as we add new items and replace items we've ran out of this year. We just received a new shipment of Snack Daddy baits. We also recently received more Vicious Flourocarbon line and a large number of original Thundersticks. We also have a good supply of Team Catfish Lucky 7 again as well as move of the Junnies Wicked Sticky. We also have a good inventory of Sonny's in stock again.

Come by and see us and check out what we have for you.

Thanks for a great year, each month continues to beat the same month last year by big amounts. We appreciate your business.

Saturday - July 24, 2009 - 10:29 am - Well it had to happen (it didn't really if someone hadn't made it happen) sooner or later. White perch have been confirmed at El Dorado Reservoir. You can read a story on it by clicking here.

Tuesday - July 21, 2009 - 3:59 pm - My dad would be proud. My grandson James, his great-grandson ate his first night crawler last Tuesday. For those of you that don't know about it, my dad was known for eating night crawlers when someone would egg him on. As I understand it, Channel 12 had it on tape and used to play it at their Christmas parties.

James has been working at the store this summer and several of our regulars have been teasing James about eating a night crawler for the last couple weeks. He finally took the bait (literally) and after thinking about it and getting up the nerve for 15 or 20 minutes, he made the plunge and ate a nice juicy night crawler. He said it was the worst thing he ever tasted. He actually chewed it. I told him later that I always thought his great-grandad swallowed them whole.

They've been trying to get him to do it again today, but he says one's enough.

Friday - June 26, 2009 - 8:251 pm - A Kansan has won the BASS Federation Central Region tournament. Too bad he was fishing for a Nebraska club. The good news is that two Kansans will be fishing the national championship. Richard Risewick of Norton was the winner of the event while Mark Warner was the top finisher of the anglers fishing for Kansas. You can read the complete story by clicking here.

July 1 marks the start of two seasons you might be interested in. The first is one that's always popular, bullfrog season. You can read about it by clicking here.

The second one is new this year. Kansans can now fish with float lines. Most people call it jug fishing. It's limited to certain lakes, so be sure to read the complete story to find out where and when it's legal.

Anglers are still catching catfish. Those of you waiting on us to receive more of the Junnie's Cat Tracker Wicked Sticky will be glad to know we've received another shipment. We have jars and tubs of both the original Wicked Sticky and the new Wicked Sticky Sewer Bait. We will soon have the newest member of the Wicked Sticky family of baits, Blooded.

If you're a Team Catfish fan and waiting on the Secret Seven, I talked with Jeff Williams of Team Catfish yesterday and he assured me our order would be shipped today or Monday. That means we should have it by mid-week, just in time for the July 4 weekend.

With the hot weather approaching, you bass anglers may want to come check out our new shipment of 10" Lake Fork worms and Lake Fork's new PowerSilk line. We also have a great selection of their eight inch worms, Ring Fry and Baby Ring Fry and the Magic Shad.

Speaking of July 4, I wanted to remind you that we will be closed on Saturday, July 4.

Thanks to all of you for making this year such a busy year. We've hired more help to try to keep up on stocking new merchandise and to take care of you. Stop by and say hi to our new staffers; John, James (my grandson) and Mary as well as the rest of us; Alex, Tom, Ben and me.

Sunday - June 21, 2009 - 9:01 pm - I don't know where the last three weeks went since I last posted to this blog. I do know we have been really busy. Fishing has been good and we're seeing a number of new customers. We are thankful for that.

We continue to receive merchandise including a new shipment of Lake Fork line and 10" worms. We recently received a new order of Yamamoto and Wapsi materials also.

On a personal note, my grandson James is helping out this summer. Come in and say hi to him on Tuesdays or Thursdays. He is the fifth generation of the family to help people with their fishing needs.

Come by and see us.

Monday - June 1, 2009 - 4:31 am - Looks like fishing was pretty good at Cheney over the weekend. I just finished posting a couple reports on the Kansas Angler website. You can read them by clicking here.

Saturday - May 30, 2009 - 4:52 pm - If you haven't had a chance to get out yet this year, the state wants to help encourage you. Next Saturday and Sunday, June 6-7, you can fish without a license. It doesn't get much better than that. You can read about it by clicking here. If you want to travel a little ways and have some fun, you might consider the Multi-Species fishing tournament set for June 5-7, 2009. I'm guessing you might be able to fish it the last two days with your free fishing privileges. Contact info for the tournament is in the article along with their website link.

Saturday - May 23, 2009 - 11:59 am - I hope you all have a chance to get out over the Memorial Day weekend. So far the weather is cooperating. We will be closed for Memorial Day Monday and will reopen with our regular hours Tuesday. If you haven't been by in a while, stop in and see us today or next week. We have a number of new items you might want to check out.

I also wanted to remind you about our special order service from Bass Pro Shops. You can place your order through us by calling, emailing or coming in and then pick it up in the store after it arrives. It is the same price as catalog and there is no shipping or handling charges. We are unable to order a few of their items, such as closeouts or lines like Columbia Sportswear and Loomis.

Sunday - May 10, 2009 - 7:45 am - After starting in 72nd place, Brent Chapman improved his position the second and third days of the Bassmaster Elite event on Lake Guntersville to finish in 26th place. The top 12 anglers will fish for the top spot today in a tournament that has seen some heavy catches weighed in. You can read the complete story on day three by clicking here.

In another item, in case you missed it, the state record rainbow trout has been replaced by a Gardner man. The previous record had stood for 27 years. You can read the complete story by clicking here.

The recent heavy rains have really given flathead fishing a shot in the arm around the state. The dam at Cottonwood Falls has produced quite a few over the past several days.

We wrapped up another busy week yesterday. Come in and see us to get stocked up on what you need for any type of fishing.

Thursday - May 7, 2009 - 10:28 am - It's been a while since I've had a chance to post anything. It's been pretty busy and I just never seem to have a chance to get it done. I received an email the other day suggesting that I remind people that the KDWP aquarium will be at River Fest the weekend of May 15, 16 at the intersection of Douglas and the Arkansas River. You can learn more about it by clicking here.

Remember to stop by and see us for all types of fishing.

Sunday - April 19, 2009 - 2:18 pm - Another Kansas trout season has come and gone. Many of our customers reported doing well this past season. The weather played with us some, but all-in-all I think the season went well. A milder winter gave more people a chance to get out.

Walleye provided some good action during the spawn, but now reports show that they're moving into deeper water and anglers are having to adjust their techniques.

The state program for stocking catfish has started again and anglers are starting to reap some benefits from the program. If you think about it, buying a fishing license is like buying a membership to a large number of lakes with regular stocking. We all need to look at the cost of the license as an investment instead of an expense.

We've finally received our first order of the year from Lake Fork Tackle. Part of that order was their new PowerSilk line. We ordered all the sizes and received all of them except 28 lb test. We will be getting it as soon as they receive more. Lake Fork Tackle continues to produce some of the best soft plastic baits and related tackle on the market. We don't stock all of it, but we can sure order you anything we don't stock.

Things continue to be really busy around here and we've added some new members to our staff. Stop by and meet Mary and Landon when you're in the area. We're training them to help us with the internet business and merchandising in the store as well as helping with customers.

Saturday-April 11, 2009 - 8:09 pm - What a great day of weather today. Now I guess it's headed back to more rain starting tomorrow in much of the state. I hope you had a chance to do some fishing today. There's not much time left in trout season, better get out and catch some of the stragglers while you still have a chance.

A friend of mine sent me a link to some amazing photography involving catching trout. It's a slide show with 35 photos. It will run itself but it keeps looping after the last photo, so watch for when it starts over. This is great and worth the time if you like to see how mother nature works in the food chain. Click here to see what I mean.

Wednesday-April 8, 2009 - 4:46 pm - We just posted a listing on our Customer Bulletin Board I wanted to mention in case you don't check it out very often. Following is the message: "I have a great lease in the Mulvane area that has 60 acres of surface and is 40 feet deep. Do you know anyone or a group that would be interested in discussing the possibilities of a catch and release trophy bass lease. Thanks, Steve"

Use the link below to contact him if you have any interest. This might be a neat deal for the right person.

Tuesday-April 7, 2009 - 4:51 am - Remember how windy and cool it was Saturday? Good day for fishing, right? Anglers in the ABA Division 66 didn't let a little wind and cool temperatures keep them from fishing their tournament at El Dorado. Marty Hole finished the event in first as well as claiming big bass honors. Ryan Tauer finished second. His dad Robert was in the store yesterday and told me about it. It doesn't seem like long ago that Ryan was fishing the Junior Bass Club sponsored by Flint Hills Bass Club. Problem is is was a couple decades ago when he, our three kids and a bunch of others were having fun competing once a month. You can read the complete story by clicking here.

Sunday-April 5, 2009 - 8:58 pm - Kansan Brent Chapman caught the second heaviest stringer and jumped from 14th to a fourth place finish in the Bassmaster Elite event held on Lake Wheeler this weekend. It had to be a bit satisfying for him after he saw a first lead slip away from him in the previous Elite tournament and finish way down in the pack. His fourth place finish helped him climb to eighth in the Angler of the Year standings which says a lot for his consistency in tournaments. You can read the complete story by clicking here.

Sunday-April 5, 2009 - 4:03 pm - If this is spring, maybe I'll take my chances with winter. As I write this, I can hear the wind blowing and I'm about to freeze in my office in the Cottonwood Falls store. In a moment of weakness several weeks ago I decided to take my space heater home to the garage until next winter. Boy was that a mistake.

Two Emporia anglers recently placed second in the Fishers of Men national tournament in Alabama and brought home over $10,000. You can read that story by clicking here. On of them, Chuck Gardner, stopped by a little while ago. We chatted about a new Kansas bass tournament circuit that will be holding its first tournament on April 19. You can see the complete schedule of all Kansas lakes and get contact information by clicking here.

While he was here, he also told me about a multi-species tournament being held on June 5-7. It's an interesting event. It starts at Melvern, but anglers can actually fish anywhere. If they have enough teams entered, they will be paying $500 for first place. The event is being sponsored by Hunt 4 Hunger. That's an organization that sponsors a hunting contest much like this fishing contest and donates the game to the Salvation Army in Emporia. You can learn more about the fishing tournament by clicking here. The link to their website is there also.

One last thing, we want to thank all of you for making March another great month for us in the store and online.
