 | KP Kirkpatrick Takes First Place at Big Hill Resevoir
November 15, 2009 - From Kansas Division 58 on November 14, 2009, KP Kirkpatrick, active duty airman stationed at McConnell AFB is one step closer to the ABA National Championship with a 1st Place win and $484 in the American Fishing Tour bass tournament held on Big Hill Reservoir this past weekend. Kirkpatrick’s five bass limit weighed in at 11.88lbs, anchored with Big Bass of the tournament, a 4.88lb largemouth. Second place went to Coffeyville, KS angler, Jim Milburn with a weight of 11.69lbs; third place was Bryan Fahler of Independence, KS with a weight of 10.63lbs. The tournament began at 7:30 a.m. under cloudy skies and very light southerly wind with 55 air temperatures. The water temperature was 56 and water was dirty from past weeks’ rain and wind with about two to three feet of visibility. At mid-morning, the wind made a shift to the east and northeast and the skies remained cloudy. Although it was forecast for temperatures to get as high as 60, that was not the case, as the northerly wind cooled the temperatures and the sun did not make an appearance. A high number of one to two pound fish were caught, mostly on jigs and spinnerbaits, with the winning stringer coming on a frog. The hard part was getting the bigger fish to bite. Persistence paid off for the top three anglers. They just stayed with it and were lucky enough to find a few three to five pound fish. Their catches came from three different areas of the lake. A special note of interest is the fact that the winner of this tournament, MSgt Mark Kirkpatrick, is currently an active duty Airman and operations officer at McConnell AFB. MSgt Kirkpatrick just returned from his third tour of duty in the Middle East. “Congratulations, Mark and Thank You very much for your continued service.” The top five anglers were:1. Mark Kirkpatrick 11.88
 2. Jim Milburn 11.69
 3. Bryan Fahler 10.63
 4. Roger Bolander 7.69
 5. Greg Clark 7.44
Next Divisional Tournament: This division’s next tournament will be December 12, 2009 on Stockton Lake at Hawker Point Public Ramp.    Back to Zeiner's Angler Supply | Kansas
