Crappie Busters is a tournament organization that was founded
in the
fall of 1995 and is currently ran by Mary and Mike Hawkins (Nitro
Pro-Staff). The tournament schedule offers anglers 8 to 10 crappie
tournaments at various lakes in eastern Kansas; Clinton, Perry,
Melvern,
Pomona, and Council Grove to name a few. Crappie Busters attracts
anglers in a 200 mile radius around Topeka, including Kansas
City
(Missouri), Lawrence, Wichita and as far as Omaha (Nebraska).
In the spring of 1999, Crappie Busters became affiliated with
the
American Crappie Association and formed the Crappie Busters of
Topeka, Kansas with a total of 14 members, which has increased
our tournament participation. We hope to expand on our ACA membership,
especially with the American Crappie Association holding 3 tournaments
in Kansas in the year 2000. Crappie Buster Tournaments
are open to everyone, however there are advantages to being
a member of the club. Crappie Busters offers anglers the flexibility
of:
Fishing various lakes in eastern Kansas.
Competing with other anglers from in and around the state
of Kansas.
The sharing of fishing tips and tactics, though fellowship
to promote
crappie fishing in Kansas.
ACA membership is optional.
ACA Club affiliation, which allows the top 2 teams in the
club the
opportunity to fish in the ACA regional tournament.
In the spring of 1999 Crappie Busters of Topeka was formed
in order to
allow the fishermen in eastern Kansas to advance to the next
level. As
the Crappie Busters Club is affiliated with the American Crappie
Association it allows the top two teams to advance to the ACA
regional
tournament without actually fishing in any ACA tournaments.
The unique format of the club allows anyone who fishes the
Crappie
Busters Tournament Trail to participate as a club member. For
instance
all but two of the club meetings are held directly after each
tournament
that way no matter how far away from Topeka you live you can
still
participate in club business. Club members also receive a newsletter
that includes club standings, coming events, or special club
news. As
each member is required to be a member of the American Crappie
Association you receive their official magazine.
