you get the latest information. March 27, 2000 - El Dorado - I received world yesterday of the walleye moving on to the dam at Eldorado Lake. My sources say leeches were working best. Most have been under 18 inches but they'll still bend you pole. Good Luck Jack Hoskinson Madd Jack Striper Guide March 27, 2000 - Cheney - Cheney res. had been down about 6 ft. before the recent rains. Many boat ramps were unusable. I visited the lake on Sun. 26 and can say the lake is FULL. The water is about the color of chocolate milk and full of debris. No specie information or catch numbers from me. Sorry. Glen. March 23, 2000 - The fishing grapevine is humming with reports of big walleye being caught. I have personally heard from Wilson, Webster, Marion, Kanopolis. Most of the fish are females but the males are starting to show. The reports have been that the fish are there one day and not the next but you can't catch from your easy chair. It's time to get out there and try your luck. Jack Hoskinson Madd Jack Striper Guide March 11, 2000 - Wilson - Depspite the erratic weather the stripers and whites are still on the prowl at lake wilson. We caught our limits and a dozen whites. Most fish were caught in the Minooka park area fishing 30 feet deep with live shad.Jack Hoskinson Madd Jack Striper Guide March 5, 2000 - Kingman State Lake - Didn't get to the lake until around 2:30pm. Started fishing at the east end of the dam by the over flow. Same spot I had caught most of my fish last weekend. Fished for about an hour with no luck. Moved to the west end of the dam off of the jetty with the cement rip rap point. Fished here for about 20 minutes with no luck. I decided to move on further west to the shallow water and go to a chartruse 1/4 oz long armed spinner bait with a #2 Indiana blade on it. All the way to the very end of the long cove to the west there is an over flow fume that water from the west drainage area flows into the lake. It was gurgling and flowing a good stream of water. I fished this spot for the next 1.5 hours. I caught and released 27 bass all between 3/4# and 2#. These fish were all in less than 2 foot of water in standing weeds. There were Northern Pike in the area that were swirling on the bait but wouldn't take it. Amazing how much the conditions changed in one week. This area is so shallow and weedy it is almost impossible to get anything but a 2 man bass boat into it. The water level in the lake is up and into the standing shore weeds so the shore fisherman have to trudge the tall weeds still standing from last year. Days like Sunday (70 degrees) mean its time to dust off the tackle box, load up the kids and take them out and make some memories. C u on the water. Gulery54@aol.com February 28, 2000 - Kingman State Lake - Had cabin fever and had to get out and loosen up my reels. Went out west to Kingman Lake today. Arrived around 2pm. Fished off the point west of the dam and back into the shallower water in the cove for about 2 hours. Saw 3 others fishing but never had a bite or saw any others caught. Moved around 4:15 the the east end of the dam by the over flow and fished the drop off from 4 to 6 feet of water. Used a gold 1/2 oz Cicada and caught 14 bass all between 2 to 3 .5lbs. All between 4:30 to 5:30pm. They were nice healthy looking fish. It looks as though maybe the average size might be coming up a little this year. It was on the windy side but as always wind or not there are still the same amount of fish in the lake. But the nicest thing about fishing Kingman this time of year, "No Snakes" Yet. Greg Ulery Gulery54@aol.com February 27, 2000 - Perry - Got to lake at noon. Found a lot of crappie in 20 feet of water. I caught 7 keepers in 6 hours of fishing. Were hitting small tube jigs. caught a lot small crappie. Gene February 20, 2000 - Wilson - The white bass have really turned on at wilson. Wade fishermen fishing the Lucus park area are taking large stringers of white bass with a few walleye and stripers mixed in. Still catching stripers with a 9 pounder as the largest this trip. The water is pretty clear so the fish seem to be hitting best early and late when the light levels are lowest. Jack Hoskinson Madd Jack Striper Guide February 16, 2000 - Wilson - Striper fishing is starting to pick up on Wilson, Catching our limits on the last 2 trips. The white bass seem to be hitting about anything once you find them. Most whites are being caught in the hell creek area. We have been fishing points and shallow water which is warmer than the main lake. Lake temp. is 37 degrees. Jack Hoskinson Madd Jack Striper Guide February 15, 2000 - Hillsdale - Went to Hillsdale lake 2-15-00, and what a day it was. Caught my limit of crappie in 3 hours, 10 to 14 inch size. Fish were at 26-28 feet, but would only bite at the 22 foot level, and why I don't know. It's getting good now. See ya at the lake. Dale Schaefer Lee's Summit, Mo. February 15, 2000 - Southeast Kansas
- Crappie and Largemouth Bass biting very well in state and private
strip land mined pits along with some action in farm ponds, around
the West Mineral area located in the north west part of Cherokee
Co. KS. Water temp was about 48 degrees and sunny with some windy
conditions Heard some reports that north west of Hallowell KS. in the
trout pit February 7, 2000 - Cheney - Ice on the lake from Graber cove north. Tried a couple of spots for channel and two spots for crappie. No fish. The water was sure pretty though. Mike Cook - Four Lake Guides January 17, 2000 - Marion - Clark
and I spent the afternoon on the river at Marion. Crappie and
white bass were slow. Caught enough to stink up the skillet.
Water was 40 deg and real pretty (clear). Fish preferred minnows
over jigs today. It's usually the other way around. See you soon, January 10, 2000 - Hillsdale
-We arrived at the Hillsdale boat ramp around 7:00
AM. It was cloudy and overcast with an air temperature of 45
degrees. Fished creek channels for Crappie in 20 to 30 feet of
water. Ended the day with 30 nice fish January 9, 2000 - The latest report from Wilson is walleye and stripers are being caught in the Minooka Park area. The fish are deep and picky at times. I fish at least 48 hours after a front passes to increase my chance of catching the fish in a feeding pattern. Jack Hoskinson Madd Jack Striper Guide. Source: Kansas Anglers like you.
