BARBER STATE FISHING LAKE - LOWER -

Drifting jigs over deeper water in the main body of the lake or vertically fishing minnows, jigs, and slab spoons over the tops of the fish attractors and other deeper structures.

All waters in the Dodge City District are currently open to fishing during this COVID-19 outbreak.  Remember to utilize social distancing and avoid congregating at boat ramps.

CLARK STATE FISHING LAKE -

White Bass

 

 

Fair Up to 17 inches

Shad bodies on small jig heads have been doing ok.  Vertically fishing slab spoons over the tops of fish attractors or prominent windblown main lake points and shelves.  Most of the larger white bass range from 12 to 17 inches.

There are no harvest restrictions at this time.

Water temperatures are warming, and folks have been catching a few white bass, channel catfish, crappie & various other species throughout Kansas.

Lake is still nearly 8 feet low.  Water temperatures should be in the upper 30's. 

All waters in the Dodge City District are currently open to fishing during this COVID-19 outbreak.  Remember to utilize social distancing and avoid congregating at boat ramps.  

We have received very few reports from anglers.  You may call the Dodge City Regional office as 620-227-8609 to make a report.  

Boats are being put on the water only at ramps on the south east side.

Water temperatures should be dropping in the upper 30's.

SCOTT STATE LAKE -

Saugeye Fair Up to 7 lbs. Casting crankbaits and swimbaits over points, shelves, and along rip-rapped shorelines adjacent to deeper water.
Rainbow Trout Good 0.5 lb. average

The fifth stocking of the trout season was made on 3-5-2021 and consisted of a release of approximately 600 rainbow trout into Barrel Springs Pond.

Still fishing powerbait, worms, canned corn, and marshmallows alone or in various combinations or casting small spoons and in-line spinners can be productive.

General Comments

Ice Report-The State Lake and Barrel Springs Pond are ice free.

Release all walleye/saugeye less than 18 inches and largemouth bass less than 15 inches.

Rainbow Trout Fair  2 fish per pound Try small spinners, spoons, power bait, worms, corn and small crankbaits. 
General Comments

The final stocking of rainbow trout were stocked on February 27th. Most trout are 10 inches in length when stocked, and average 1/2 lb. each. The Cimarron National Grasslands Meade SFL is a Type 2 trout area, a trout permit is required only for those fishing for trout.

COLDWATER CITY LAKE -

Crappie     Fish around any brush or vegetation you can find as well as drop-offs. Using minnows, small slab spoons, or jigs work.
Channel catfish     Try liver, shrimp, worms, or other live baits. Normally they will be feeding on the wind blown side of the lake. You can also try drifting nightcrawlers or using cut bait.  Numbers have been boosted recently with annual stockings from the hatchery section.
Wiper     Try jigs and crankbaits on wind blown shores or shrimp fished on the bottom off the face of the dam.
Largemouth bass     Fishing with any shad imitation lures should work, especially around the stump rows and along shoreline vegetation.

Rainbow Trout Good 10" - 18" Vet's Lake received its second stocking of trout on 1/20/2016.  A TROUT PERMIT PLUS A FISHING LICENSE IS REQUIRED TO FISH FOR OR POSSESS TROUT AT THIS LOCATION. Good luck!

GREAT BEND STONE LAKE -

Rainbow trout No report 2/lb Tout are still in the lake and require a permit, HOWEVER FUTURE STOCKINGS HAVE BEEN CANCELED AND ALL REMAINING STOCKINGS WILL OCCUR AT VETERAN'S MEMORIAL LAKE.
Channel catfish No report   Try prepared stinkbait, cut bait or liver under a bobber or on the bottom.
Bluegill No report   Try small pieces of worm or crickets under a bobber or small twister tail jigs. Use a very small hook (size 4 or 6).
Largemouth bass No report   Try jigs and finesse plastics early in the morning and later in the evening but as the water cools fish can be caught midday.
Crappie No report   Fish around any brush or vegetation you can find as well as drop-offs, using minnows or jigs
Wiper No report   Try trolling jigs and crankbaits, or shrimp fished on the bottom. You can also try jigging slab spoons and bucktail jigs. Drifting live shad, sunfish or minnows may also work.

REMEMBER: Zebra mussel veligers (larval zebra mussels) are too small to be seen with the unaided eye and they can be found in boat livewells, minnow buckets, boat bilges, water toys and anything else that is capable of holding even a small amount of water.

Be sure to drain all equipment before leaving the lake to avoid moving veligers to other waters. THIS INCLUDES MINNOW BUCKETS AND BOAT LIVEWELLS AND BILGES!!!

General Comments

the last stocking of rainbow trout were stocked February 27th.  Try for them using small spinners, spoons, power bait, worms, corn and small crankbaits.  All anglers fishing at Centennial Pond from November 1 through April 15 are required to have a trout stamp.

Casting soft plastics, swimbaits and jerk baits around fish attractors, shoreline brush and vegetation along sun-warmed shorelines.

Harvest regulations include a 15-inch minimum length limit and 5/day creel limit.

Bluegill No report Up to 8 inches

Worms under a bobber and small jigs fished vertically around brush in deeper water.

There are no harvest restrictions at this time.

Water temperatures are warming, and folks have been catching a few channel catfish, crappie & various other species throughout Kansas.

We have received very few reports from anglers.  You may call the Dodge City Regional office as 620-227-8609 to make a report.   

All waters in the Dodge City District are currently open to fishing during this COVID-19 outbreak.  Remember to utilize social distancing and avoid congregating at boat ramps.
