December
2, 2005 - Texoma - Submitted
by Southern
Oklahoma Guides - Fishing is still very good for stripers
at Lake Texoma. Baring a major cold snap, the fishing should
remain fairly consistent through the month of December. We are
catching fish on live shad, which, has not been easy to come
by. Find the sea gulls feeding and get after it. Down-riggers
with double jig rigs are also producing fish underneath the birds.
Catfishing is still slow but will begin to pick up as the water
temperature decreases. Duck numbers are fair but our hunts have
been successful overall. Doc Walker, 877-664-2208, www.southernoklaguides.com
November 17, 2005 - Eufaula
- Submitted by Outdoor Adventure Guide Service - Fishing
over the last few weeks has started to slow down. With fall aproaching
and cold fronts blowing in the winds have been a problem. Yesterday
we fished Lake Eufaula, We started off fishing for Crappie around
the docks, Shooting jigs under the docks can be great fishing
at times. after two hours of fishing we had around 15 nice Crappie,
On the way back to the marina we found the birds work over a
big school of fish. after about a hour we ended up with 30 White
Bass, Over all we had a good day on the lake..

November 8, 2005 - Several
Lakes - Did the same thing again today. 3 of us kept
5 eyes 19-21" and a small ice chest full of small hybrids
and sandies. We let the bigger hybrids, up to 5 lbs, go to grow
and fight again. Windy day, had to fight it, but our efforts
were rewarded. This pattern will hold on these lakes until water
temps go below 50 degrees or we get major rains to muddy up the
water. Good fishin' to all and to all a good bite!!!
November 2, 2005 - Several
Lakes - Hybirds or wipers as they're called in Kansas,
are biting well along with Sand Bass and saugeye/walleye. Catch
a windy point on Skiatook, Keystone,
Birch, Sooner, Foss or Canton lakes are some excellent
choices. Fish rattletraps or crankbaits in shad color for clear
water or chrome for stained/murky water. Birch would be a good
choice if it is too windy for the bigger lakes. Also, if you're
into trolling, now is a great time in depths of 3-12'. Good fishin'
I fished in one of the above lakes yesterday and we release hybrids
up to 5lbs and kept three 18" eyes and 10 smaller hybrids
and sandies.
October 29, 2005 - Answer

June 28, 2005 - Grand
Lake - 6/25, Grand, OK: Fished Grand on Saturday.
Started mid-morning. Sun was bright and hot, the water
very stained with visibility less than 8" around Martin
Landing. Caught 4 keepers on a shallow crank and 2 nicer
fish out of willows pitching a jig. The bite slowed in
the afternoon with only 1 short fish. I'm at Grand in July
for touneys if anyone has an inside track or favorite technique,
I'd love to hear it!
June 20, 2005 - Lake Thunderbird

- Submitted
by Doc Walker, Guide - The picture is of Jim and Carol
Altergot and friends of Wichita, KS. The striper fishing is very
good. The lake is low, 612.8 and the water temperature is about
78. We are fishing deep water (60-85 feet) on the lower end of
the lake. Most of the fish are being caught at 30-40 feet. Live
shad and down-riggers are both producing fish. MEASURE your fish
carefully as many are very close to the 20 inch mark. Submitted

April 23, 2005 - Hugo
and McGree Creek - Two friends and I traveled to Antlers,
OK from Wichita, KS and Springfield, MO for a few days of bass
fishing April 17-20. We stayed at Rebel Hill Guest Ranch (http://www.rebelhillranch.com)
in Antlers and fished Hugo Lake and McGee Creek Reservoir, as
well as a 12-acre pond at the ranch. The water at Hugo appeared
to be low and was definitely well stained. This did not help
our fishing, nor did the cold front moving through kicking up
the wind and waves. We were able to catch a few largemouths off
of rocky points in very shallow water (2-4') using dark plastics.
The next day we fished McGee and had a heck of a day on the water.
All three of us caught at least one lunker. Well, a Kansas lunker
anyway. No double digit fish for sure.
The largest was 20" and fat. Probably around
6 lbs. We were catching them on black and blue buzzbaits to boot.
It was a ton o' fun. The fish were in shallow on leading edge
banks not far from deep water. It appeared to still be pre-spawn.
Water temps ranged from 64 to 72 degrees throughout the day on
different parts of the lake. McGee was a real treat, exactly
what we were looking for. Hugo got the best of us but a lot of
that was the weather. Other than that it looked like a lake at
which you could catch some nice bass. You can see some pictures
of the trip at http://members.cox.net/bedwards9/images/okfishing/index.html.
See ya on the lake!
April 19, 2005 - Eufaula
from Texoma - Submitted by Outdoor Adventures Guide Service
Today was one of those days you waited a life time for. I
set out with Dennis and Traci Hoyle of Nebraska who drove to
Oklahoma for a vacation and a little Striper fishing. Dennis
had been doing his research on the Internet and found out that
a 43lb striper was caught below Eufaula dam about 3 weeks ago.
This year has been one of the best years for large stripers in
along time. But today for some reason was going to be different.
As we loaded our gear into the boat before day light I noticed
the water was not running from the dam. Thinking to myself this
is not good. We ventured out and got set up for a days fishing.
After about 2 hours with not a bite and still no water. I decided
to do something a little different. I pulled out the big rods
and set them up for topwater fishing with live bait. On the first
case I was showing the Hoyles how to use the rods and how to
fish this way using live bait. As I handed the rod to Traci I
saw a Hugh fish explode and take our bait. I told her to set
the hook and with the drag screaming the fight was on. After
a few seconds Traci decided to give the rod to her husband Dennis
after a good 5 minute battle I scooped the huge fish up in the
landing net. To all of our surprise we couldn't believe how big
the fish was. J. B. Bennett Of Okmulgee a long time striper guide
watched us as we landed the fish. He was in the boat next to
us. He said it was one of the largest stripers he has ever seen
and wanted pictures to run in this weeks Outdoor page that he
writes for. After weighing the fish on the boat it was some were
between 43 and 45lbs. After our trip we went and found a scale
at a local store. The fish weighed in at 44Lbs 2 oz at M&M
Grocery In Pourm Landing. This is truly an outstanding Fish.
Till next time, Good Fishing from your Outdoor Adventure Guide,
Larry

March 1, 2005 - Thanks for answer
to Grand Lake Question - My thanks to the fellow that
replied to my Grand Lake question. I'm assuming the jig colors
are black and blue? Or black and black?
Again thank you,
Ol' Mike
February 28, 2005 - Answer
to Grand Lake Question from Feb. 11 - I will be at
Table Rock this year during this time, but. I traditionally have
done well in the back of elk river on channel swing banks. 3
lures (2 typical, 1 different for these parts): clown colored
rogue or pointer 100 (10 15 second pauses); bl/bl 5/16
oz jig (heavy line for slow fall to bottom then deadstick for
10-15 count); LV-500 lucky craft rat'l trap (clown color)<fish
as if slow rolling a spinnerbait>. Last year a hot lure was
a bandit 200 or wiggle wartthese 2 lures accounted for a number
of early March tournaments from Lake of the Ozarks, Table Rock,
and the early season BFL at Grandeach year is different though.
If Elk River gets hit pretty good by others, I
like to fish mid-lake coves (north sides) and use the rogue along
sides of docks, jig around wood.
February 11, 2005 - Grand
Lake question - An out of state friend is to fish
a Bass tournament at Grand Lake, OK March 13. The tournament
starts at Martin Landing. He is asking for information about
the lake such as accommodations, lure selections, areas of the
lake to fish, etc. I would greatly appreciate any input! Ol'
Mike
January 19, 2005 - Grand Lake spoonbill
question - Need some help. I'm going down to Grand
Lake this spring to get in on the spoonbill run. I've never gone
after spoonbill before and wondered if someone who has could
advise me as to what kind of tackle I will need. Type of reel,
length of rod, test weight of line, how to rig the weights and
things like that. Any info will be appreciated. You can reply
here or email me at ksfishinfarmer@yahoo.com
Thanks. ksfishinfarmer
